INSPIRE
The EU INSPIRE (Infrastructure for Spatial Information in Europe) directive came into force on May 15, 2007. It requires all member states to render basic and specialist spatial data available through dedicated, interoperable geoinformation services. The goal is to enhance the level of international access to spatial information.
The products and services supplied by con terra represent an important contribution towards fulfilling the tasks emanating from the INSPIRE directive. The central element is the setting up and development of an IT infrastructure that complies with the requirements of the EU directive. The SDI experts at con terra gain their know-how from their direct participation in INSPIRE drafting teams, combined with their years of involvement in national and international committees and working groups (incl. ISO, OGC, GDI-DE) as well as the many and varied SDI and geoportal projects the company has conducted.
con terra offers the following technological platforms and services aiming directly at the implementation of the INSPIRE directive:
- sdi.suite - a comprehensive product suite designed to allow users to construct and operate spatial data infrastructures
- FME by Safe Software - a software tool for editing, converting and supplying spatial data and for performing quality control
- ArcGIS Server by Esri - the powerful basic technology for the initiation, administration and operation of distributed enterprise information systems within service-based infrastructures
- Consultancy services - "Rent An Expert"
- Drawing up SDI studies and concepts against the background of INSPIRE
- Integrating SDI components in IT infrastructures
The above range of products and services are a clear indication that con terra is already supplying the right level of assistance and tools with which to fulfil INSPIRE-based activities. Proof of this can be seen in the large number of SDI projects that have been successfully implemented throughout the whole of Europe.
